About Sissy

You may be wondering, "What kind of name is Sissy anyway?"  Well, it's not my given name, if that's what you're thinking.  My little sister has called me "Sissy" all my life, so when it came time to choose a business name, it was only fitting; especially given my love for alliteration!  And thus, Sissy's Sweets was born.
I have loved to bake for as long as I can remember.  I'm pretty sure that love stems from my Granddaddy. He always had some kind of goody, fresh from the oven every time we came over.  He is kind of famous for his cookies.  You'd be hard pressed to find anyone in my hometown between the ages of 23-35 that have never had a "Granddaddy cookie!" The same goes for his pound cake, but the age range on that one is a lot larger!  Needless to say, his baking is the best.  I can remember telling him all through high school that he needed to open a bakery.  He never did, but just the other day, at age 86, he said to me, "I wish you lived closer so we could open a bakery together!"  Me too, Granddaddy...me too!
And that is my dream; to one day have a place of my own, making the world a better place one cake, cupcake, or cookie at a time!
Being a military wife, we move around a lot and it's just not practical to open a bakery in each of our duty stations.  So for now, Sissy's Sweets is a home-based business.  I'm lucky my state has a "cottage food law" that allows me to sell baked goods from my home!  One day...when we're all settled, I hope you'll find a storefront with my name on it, as well as a full blown website.
For now, my baking blog will have to suffice.

If you'd like to place an order, please click the "contact me" tab at the top of the page and fill out a contact form.

Thanks for reading the blog and thanks for your future business!

*since the inception of this site, my Granddaddy passed away.  He lost a battle with cancer.  Not a day goes by that I don't think of him, especially when I'm in the kitchen.  Sometimes it's almost like he's right there baking with me.  I dedicate this site and all of my yummy creations to him.
